Mount Arbel, Galilee, Israel

The Land of Israel

There is no place anywhere that compares to Israel and the land of Palestine. From the views of snow covered Mount Hermon in the north, to the lush beauty of Galilee in the spring, to the Mediterranean beaches on the coastal plain, to the legendary Dead Sea and Judean Wilderness, to the awesome Negev, to the corral reefs of the Red Sea - experiencing the diversity of landscape in such a small area is memorable in itself. But the scenery is just the surface of the appeal. Israel and the land of Palestine have sat at the crossroads of Africa, Europe and Asia and the great civilizations of the ancient world: Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Persia, Greece and Rome all came and left their mark on the land for us to still see today and they in turn took the influence of Israel with them. Most famously it was the land that Abraham was promised, that Moses led his enslaved people to, and that David ruled as King. It was the land where Christianity was born - where the stories of the Gospels can be retraced and it is a place that Muslims hold sacred. It is a country of the Middle East with all the Mediterranean passion and intensity, but it is also a country of immigrants and visitors bringing their variety and richness from around the world. A visit to Israel can ignite all the senses, visually, historically and culturally in a way nowhere else can. Please enjoy the glimpses into the many different aspects of this remarkable and absolutely fascinating place.
